Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an independent international medical humanitarian organization, founded in 1971. MSF runs relief operations in many countries across the world with the aim of providing emergency aid and medical assistance to people who are suffering as a result of political crises, armed conflicts, natural or man made disasters, epidemics, and chronic diseases, in both normal and emergency conditions, without discrimination irrespective of race, religion, or political affiliation. MSF has been working in Thailand for over 30 years.

The MSF-B project in Phang Nga began in February 2005. The objective of the project is to improve access to health care for excluded populations. Excluded populations can mean Thai or Burmese, but the most vulnerable are illegal Burmese migrant workers.
