ABOUT US
"Better learning will not come from finding better ways for the teacher to instruct, but from giving the learner better oppotunities to construct."
Prof.Seymour Papert, MIT Media Lab, 1996
Darunsikkhalai School for Innovative Learning (DSIL), located in King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi, was founded on the learning theory called Constructionism, developed by Seymour Papert, a mathematician and educator of Media Lab, MIT. This theory provides knowledge and insight on human cognitive and psychological learning processes, which lead us to believe and develop research on a new type of educational model.
Even though Constructionism was originated from the foriegn environment, its similarity to the fundamental philosophy of Buddhist teaching or Dharma enables the theory to be understood and adopted into Thai culture. Dharma places much importance on the process of learning from experience, which ties closely with Constructionism. In application of both, DSIL designs three basic learning processes: 1.Thinking or Designing > 2.Making or Doing > 3.Reflecting or Contemplating in order to give our students best environment and "better oppotunities to construct".
